Film details
Nae Pasaran (approx. 95 minutes)
Felipe Bustos Sierra’s 2018 documentary Nae Pasaran tells the poignant story of the power of unions and international solidarity.
A million Chileans were exiled and thousands were killed as a result of the violent military coup in Chile in 1973.
An act of solidarity in East Kilbride, Scotland from Rolls Royce workers had a huge impact on the effectiveness of Pinochet’s coup. They refused to work on the Chilean Hawker Hunter engines which grounded half of Chile’s Air Force. The boycott lasted for four years.
Chile’s 9/11 (approx. 30 minutes)
Javier Navarro is a survivor of the Pinochet military coup in Chile. Javier worked for the Allende government that was brutally overthrown and this film depicts his incredible socialist projects in Chile, his imprisonment and torture witnessing murder of his comrades including the musician Victor Jara as well as his escape and new life in Merseyside.
Javier’s story is an inspirational and educational insight into Chile’s own 9/11. The film also shines a light on international abuses that continue today throughout the globe.
